Two new spectator areas to allow fans to 'feel' the Supercars action at The Bend this May

Event Map HERE

TWO brand-new General Admission Spectator areas will allow fans attending the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend this May to get closer to the Repco Supercars Championship than ever before.

Open to all General Admission ticketholders, new accessible areas on pit straight and prior to turn 13 are designed to give spectators the ultimate rush as they watch just a few metres away from the cars passing at speed – or starting a race.

The new pit straight zone is located on the inside of the circuit adjacent to the start-finish line and the pit straight grandstand.

The area stretches nearly the full length of the main pit building, allowing fans to experience the feeling of a full-blown race start at ground level next to the circuit, before they’re able to turn around and watch the pack come into view at Turn 14 before plunging into Turn 15 and then back up the hill to 16.

Like the grandstand, the new GA area will be accessible via the circuit tunnel running under the main straight.

Several new barriers and fences have been put in place to define the new area, which will likely become a fan favorite thanks to its location so close to the circuit. Several food and beverage amenities will also be located in the infield precinct.

The pit straight GA area will also be the home of the Airtime FMX crew, who will be performing their aerobatics throughout the event.

The second new spectating zone will see the area adjacent to the back straight – between turns 12 and 13 – opened to viewing for the first time.

Utilising part of The Bend’s East circuit, the area (on drivers left) will allow fans to watch from trackside from approximately half-way up the straight, as the cars arrive at speed before braking and turning into Turn 13, disappearing out of view as they turn down through Turn 14.

With a 200km/hr-plus approach it is set to provide a particularly visceral viewing experience.

The two new zones will be open to all ticketholders, who will have better access than ever before at The Bend for this year’s event, to be held on May 7-9.

This includes Park ‘n’ View areas at Turn 1, 2, 4/5, Turns 14/15 and Turn 17 and the Grandstands located throughout the venue – which are selling quickly. An additional superscreen will also be in place between Turns 4/5.

Paddock access will also be free to all General Admission ticketholders this year.

Trackside camping, located behind Turn 3-4 and behind Turn 17, continues to be a popular choice amongst South Australians and interstate visitors. Unique to only a couple of Australian circuits, Supercars trackside camping provides the ultimate immersive motorsport experience. With pre-sale due to end two weeks out from the event on 23rd April, fans are advised to get in quick to get their preferred positions.

Hop on / hop off shuttle busses will circulate the venue throughout the event, while a raft of off-track entertainment has already been confirmed, including Friday night roll racing and pit party, a Saturday night live music and fireworks and much more.

Tickets are on sale now via Ticketek, with more information available at the all-new thebend.com.au

QUOTES – SAM SHAHIN, THE BEND MOTORSPORT PARK

“The Bend has been established for three years now and the drivers love it. Now we’re unlocking more of the potential for the fans who support us at every event, and the new ones yet to visit.

“These two new spectator areas will get spectators closer to the action than ever before and really allow them to feel the cars as well as see them from a new angle. Our pit straight grandstands have proven to be very popular, and we think the new General Admission area in the circuit’s infield will be even more so.

“It will be a place with almost 360-degree viewing of the cars at several points of the circuit.

“The approach to Turn 13 is a fantastic part of the circuit and one the drivers love, and we think spectators will too. It will be a great opportunity to see the cars at speed coming up the hill before negotiating a corner that often catches people out.

“We are very excited to be hosting the Repco Supercars Championship and offer fans a new experience they can’t get anywhere else.”
