Supercars Drivers Star In New OTR SuperSprint TV Commercials

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

REPCO SUPERCARS Championship stars Jack LeBrocq, Scott Pye and Cameron Waters feature in a new series of TV commercials launching today to promote the upcoming OTR SuperSprint at The Bend Motorsport Park.

However, it is not just the drivers that are the heroes of the new series – the local region also stars.

With the theme of ‘What are you waiting for?’, the series launches on major South Australian channels today and showcases both the local region and businesses surrounding The Bend.

It forms part of the largest ever marketing campaign undertaken for an event at The Bend Motorsport Park, as the circuit builds towards a massive weekend of Motorsport this May 7-9.

The OTR SuperSprint will be a key tourism driver for the Tailem Bend and Murraylands region this year with thousands of visitors expected across the three-day event.

The series also promotes the fact that the venue will be the only place South Australian fans can experience Supercars in the state this year.

Kicking off at Victoria Park in Adelaide, the films show the drivers leaving Adelaide – appropriately behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang and a Holden Commodore - before heading to The Bend via key stops on the way.

After stopping to experience the mighty Murray River aboard a ski boat from Freedom Boat hire, the trio head for lunch at Bremerton Wines in the stunning Langhorne Creek wine region before crossing the river on the Tailem Bend Ferry and ultimately heading to The Bend.

As well as the TV commercials, an extensive billboard campaign has also begun around South Australia.

The Bend Motorsport Park is also featured in the South Australian Tourism Commission's 'Great State Experiences' voucher campaign. The Great State Experiences Voucher program will provide $50, $100 and $200 vouchers for use on participating hosted tours and experiences across South Australia.

“We’re thrilled with the new campaign and Scotty, Cam and Jack were great fun to work with, though it was hard to drag them away from the boat and then the winery to finish filming!” The Bend Motorsport Park’s marketing manager Michael Rossi said.

“They had a great time and really embraced what we are trying to do, which is showing Supercars fans that there’s so much to see and do in the regions surrounding the circuit – it really is spectacular.

“The local business community has really embraced the event and we loved showcasing that in this campaign.

“The event is one of the biggest annually in the region, and certainly the largest motorsport event in South Australia this year. There’s something for everyone, from the serious racing fans to families keen for a day out, and this campaign reinforces that.”

2021 will mark the fifth visit of the Repco Supercars Championship to Australia’s newest permanent facility, following their racing debut at the venue in 2018.

The series returned in 2019 before the circuit hosted a pair of back-to-back rounds in September last year, on different circuit layouts, during the Covid-19 affected season.

Spectators at this year’s event will be able two access to brand new General Admission spectator areas at this year’s event, as well as a packed on and off-track program of support categories, carnival rides, market stalls and more.

The two new zones will be open to all ticketholders, who will have better access than ever before at The Bend for this year’s event, to be held on May 7-9.

This includes Park ‘n’ View areas at Turn 1, 2, 4/5, Turns 14/15 and Turn 17 and the Grandstands located throughout the venue – which are selling quickly. An additional superscreen will also be in place between Turns 4/5.

Paddock access will also be free to all General Admission ticketholders this year.

Trackside camping, located behind Turn 3-4 and behind Turn 17, continues to be a popular choice amongst South Australians and interstate visitors. Unique to only a couple of Australian circuits, Supercars trackside camping provides the ultimate immersive motorsport experience.

With pre-sale due to end two weeks out from the event on 23rd April, fans are advised to get in quick to get their preferred positions.

Hop on / hop off shuttle busses will circulate the venue throughout the event, while a raft of off-track entertainment has already been confirmed, including Friday night roll racing and pit party, a Saturday night live music and fireworks and much more.
