A stable of track-prepared Ford Mustang GTs have arrived at The Bend to offer enthusiasts the chance to unleash their inner race car driver. For as little as $79, visitors to Australia’s largest motorsport precinct can choose from a range of hot lap Drive and Ride experiences in the Ford Mustang GT, part of the only fleet of track-ready Mustangs in the country backed by Ford. Tickford Racing’s Chaz Mostert was at the launch of the Mustang Drive and Ride Experiences ahead of the Superloop Adelaide 500, where he posted a new race record in the #55 Supercheap Auto Tickford Mustang. “I drive a Ford Mustang on the street and I’m pretty excited to drive one for a race car in 2019,” said Mostert. “When I jump into my own Mustang, I know I’m in a high-end performance car.”
The specially prepared Ford Mustang GTs feature a 5.0-litre V8 and a range of track-ready modifications including a roll-cage, racing harnesses and Ford Performance Track Packs for an engaging driving experience.
“What a great opportunity to drive an iconic model like the Ford Mustang, a car with a genuine racing pedigree, around such a world-class circuit,” said Ford Product Communications Manager, Damion Smy. “Mustang belongs in racing, whether it’s in GT4, NASCAR or Supercar guise, and The Bend’s program makes that visceral on-track experience available on a circuit where the Ford Performance Mustang Supercar will race later this year.”
The opportunity to experience The Bend in a Ford Mustang highlights the depth of activity available at The Bend, with multiple track layouts, including a 7.77km GT circuit, as well as a Stadium Circuit, 4WD Adventure Park and Skidpan. “Our motor racing circuit is there to be enjoyed, not just by racing car drivers, but anyone who wants to experience the unique thrill and adrenaline of driving a performance vehicle to the limit in a safe environment,” said Sam Shahin, Managing Director of The Bend Motorsport Park.
Bookings to drive the Ford Mustang GT are available at www.thebend.com.au with experiences starting at $79 for two hot laps of the 4.95km International Circuit (for a limited time only), the layout used by Supercars at The Bend SuperSprint on August 23-25, 2019.
